It's a philosophy. I gotta weigh in on ONE statement:

"As marketers, we are extortionists – we tend to make use of opportunities to milk people off their money so that we can sell our wares. Capitalism teaches us that, so it’s all right."

Close, but no cigar ;-) An 'extortionist' is one that exploits an advantage he has over another to get them to take an action that normally, they would not.

A 'marketer' -- particularly a content marketer-- is one that's concerned with getting the consumer what they need, in a way that's beneficial to both parties.

Now, I know you probably said it tongue-in-cheek... but I prefer to think of my content marketing as a noble profession in which I get the goods to the folks that want it, before someone peddling a lower-quality solution actually DOES 'extort' the action.

It's a calling. It's a philosophy. It's a way of life for responsible producers to get needed products to the consumers... rather than allow them to fumble around in the dark.

That said, rest of the post was spot-on. Appreciate the insights.

Keep Stepping,

Kurt

Re: 7 Steps to Creating a Kick-Ass Mobile Website

Hey @twitter-15566816 It felt good to read your comments. Here is (part of) the response I received from them. Someone needs to be careful before they just let a bunch of anti-social developers start a business. This is the most frustrating response I have EVER received.

I'm a help robot. I'm processing your report.

BZZZZZZZZ.

This automated message is your confirmation that we've gotten your email.

Here's how this works: There are (literally) about a million of you. And there are a couple dozen of us, so if we're ever going to be able to make Trello (even) better, we need to be careful about how we spend our time.

If you have questions about using Trello, that's only natural. The product is under very active development, and we're tweaking it constantly to make it more intuitive and easy to use. But, we're not in a position to provide one-to-one guidance on how to use it right now.

Re: Hey Dumbass Freelancer: Wondered Why Your Proposals Get Rejected?

Hey @sara Thank you :) Just came off my mind, this one :)

Re: Hey Dumbass Freelancer: Wondered Why Your Proposals Get Rejected?

Well said.

Re: 4 E-Commerce Trends That’ll Make You Think Twice

@Michal Smetana I'd obviously have to agree with you and Sally. In fact, I was just reading this book from Google called "The Zero Moment of Truth" which discusses this phenomenon at length. It's about that little habit of wanting to see what the world thinks about the purchase I am about to make.

It's al fascinating, if you think about it. Eh?

Re: 4 E-Commerce Trends That’ll Make You Think Twice

Sally Ormond really said it best. “With over a quarter of all
adults and nearly half of all teens now owning a smart phone (Ofcom, 2011)
connecting to the Internet on the move has never been so easy. In fact, it is
now so easy it is beginning to affect the way we shop.” I couldn`t agree more
with her.

Re: Trello.com Review: How Trello Changed My Work habits

I just started using Trello for a small scale web project that involves about a dozen people that need to add input into my design and process. So far I am very impressed with the program. The only complaint would be that I wish I had the capability to message individual members of the organization. On the flip-side of that, it's almost good that we DON'T have that ability because then there are no side conversations and everyone on the team is always in the loop whether it applies to them specifically or not.

Re: Trello.com Review: How Trello Changed My Work habits

Hi Rafael,

Thanks a ton for the comment.
